What this site is about
Keith explores themes in photography that are of particular interest to him. These include architecture, modern art, camera equipment, and the application of artificial intelligence.
He will be sharing articles and photographs covering these topics, based upon his personal experience, his interests, and his travels to photogenic parts of the world. Although interested in all photographic genres, Keith has developed a passion for abstract photography in color and architectural photography in black and white.
Abstract photography
Abstract photography captures the world in a way that is non-representational or non-literal. It involves taking elements of the world and rearranging them in a way that breaks away from traditional conventions of photography, such as composition, subject matter, and perspective.
Abstract photographs often rely on shape, color, form, and texture to create visual interest and convey meaning. They can be created through a variety of techniques, including cropping, filtering, layering, and manipulating focus.
Abstract photography can be expressive and emotional, and it allows photographers to explore the world in a more imaginative and creative way. It can be a powerful means of self-expression and can offer a unique perspective on the world. You can read about my recent exploits in abstract photography through my blog posts
Architectural photography
Architectural photography in black and white exploits the patterns, shadows and repetition found in imaginative building, whether they are classical or contemporary. Removing considerations of color from these images helps the viewer to focus on those striking shapes and shadows. Keith explores and photographs striking buildings in the region of Southern California where he lives, as well as around the world
Photography and writing
Keith takes photographs in color and black and white using Leica and L-mount equipment. He discusses some of these items in his blogs. More of his photo essays can be found here and at Macfilos, a UK-based blog devoted to photography, camera gear, travel, and Leica
